Smith.ai Pricing: What It Costs Per Call in 2026

HiBell › Insights

Smith.ai sells two different things under one name. One is an AI receptionist. The other is a team of human receptionists. Both are billed per call, and the gap between them is large, so the first job is working out which one you are being quoted for.

The numbers below come from Smith.ai’s own pricing pages, checked in October 2026.

Smith.ai AI Receptionist pricing

The AI plans are month to month. You buy a bucket of calls and pay a set rate for each call over it.

Plan Monthly price Calls included Each extra call
Free $0 25 $3.00
Pro $150 75 $2.50
Pro $270 150 $2.30
Pro $500 300 $2.17
Enterprise $800 500 $2.10

Above 1,000 calls the price is custom. If you want a live person to pick up when the AI cannot handle a call, that is an add-on at $3.00 per call, charged only when it is used. Source: Smith.ai AI Receptionist pricing.

One detail matters more than the price. On Free and Pro you set the receptionist up yourself, with support. Smith.ai only builds and runs it for you on Enterprise.

Smith.ai human receptionist pricing

Plan Monthly price Calls included Each extra call
Starter $300 30 $11.50
Basic $810 90 $10.50
Pro $2,100 300 $8.50

There are no setup fees, and the plans are month to month. Several common tasks are charged per call on top: appointment booking is $1.50, a text or email follow-up is $0.50, a Spanish line is $1.00, and recording with transcription is $0.25. Source: Smith.ai receptionist pricing.

What 200 calls a month costs

Take a business that gets 200 calls a month, which is about nine a working day.

  • AI Receptionist: the $270 plan covers 150 calls. The other 50 cost $2.30 each, or $115. Total: $385.
  • Human receptionists: the $810 plan covers 90 calls. The other 110 cost $10.50 each, or $1,155. Total: $1,965, before any booking or follow-up add-ons.

The pattern to notice: with per-call pricing, a busy month costs more than a quiet one. That is fine if your volume is steady. It is harder to budget for if you run promotions, have a seasonal rush, or get a lot of short calls that still count as calls.

What the price does not cover

Three things are worth checking before you sign with any per-call service:

  1. What counts as a call. Ask how spam, wrong numbers and hang-ups are treated.
  2. Who keeps it working. On the self-serve AI plans, changing what the receptionist says or does when your hours, prices or services change is your job.
  3. Other channels. These plans are built around phone calls. If customers also reach you by web chat, WhatsApp or social messages, ask what happens to those.

How HiBell is different

HiBell is not a per-call plan you configure yourself. It is a managed service: our team builds the agent with you, connects it to your calendar and systems, watches real conversations and keeps improving it. It covers calls, web chat, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and SMS.

You start with a free 30-day managed pilot, and usage and any phone or third-party costs are confirmed with you before launch. For a side by side view, see our Smith.ai alternative page, or read what an AI receptionist costs across the market.
